Editorial Project Manager - IBIE

 

Sosland Publishing is seeking an Editorial Project Manager to lead the production of all editorial content for the International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE).

 

Sosland Publishing is the official media provider for IBIE, a triennial show that draws more than 20,000 attendees and exhibitors from around the world. This nine-month project will begin in January 2019 and conclude shortly after the four-day show in September. Work includes the planning and management of all pre-show materials, onsite execution of all daily print and digital publications and any related post-show projects.

 

IBIE duties include:

• Support the Baking & Snack Editor and Publisher by successfully managing IBIE projects

• Delegate assignments for all IBIE products

• Set and maintain schedules and deadlines for editorial assignments and custom projects

• Create original IBIE editorial content for Sosland’s existing print and digital products

• Edit all IBIE content for quality, accuracy and style

• Work with IBIE show planners for editorial coverage and related custom projects

• Work directly with design staff on presentation of all pre-show and onsite publications

• Work with Baking & Snack editorial staff to coordinate cross-platform content

• Work with Sosland publishing staff on IBIE custom projects

• Travel as needed

 

Qualifications include:

• BS or BA in journalism or related field

• 3-5 years editorial experience (B2B editorial experience preferred)

• Experience navigating tradeshows with an understanding of tactical logistics

• Experience creating print and digital content

• Ability to maximize digital and social media platforms

• Strong organizational and task management skills

• Decisive and creative problem-solving skills

• Ability to motivate, inspire and engage staff at all levels of the organization to meet deadlines

System Support Specialist

 

Sosland Publishing is seeking an experienced IT helpdesk professional to provide technical support solutions to internal and remote users through the use of best practices, documented procedures and past experiences.

 

Responsibilities:

• Provide high quality customer service to employees by building relationships and trust through appropriate communication and responsive service while troubleshooting complex IT issues.

• Provide first level technical support to local and remote users in a networked environment via telephone, remote control, e-mail and desk side visits.

• Diagnose, resolve and track issues on PCs, Tablets, Smartphones and related applications.

• Provide support for business applications including Microsoft Office, Adobe products and LOB (line of business) applications.

• In addition to computer repairs, troubleshoot other equipment, including printers, fax machines, phones and any specialized equipment.

• Support networked printers, including multi-functional devices and coordinate service as required.

• Appropriately escalate requests or incidents to the next tier of support with necessary information and documented history.

• Rollout, rebuild, upgrade and maintain hardware (desktops, laptops, tables, smartphones, etc.), software and peripherals.

• Interpret and/or discuss information with others involving terminology or concepts not familiar to many people

• Document work through ticketing system (ServiceDesk Plus experience preferred)

• Build knowledge documents as part of an evolving solutions database and service catalog.

• Work on multiple special projects as required.

• Occasional offsite work based on business needs.

• Performs other duties as assigned, based on business need.

 

Qualifications:

• Associate Degree or equivalent work experience in IT helpdesk support

• Certification in Information Technology, CompTIA A+ and/or ITIL preferred

• Two (2) or more years of experience supporting Windows desktops and Microsoft Office in a network environment.

• Experience communicating with all levels of an organization via reports, email, verbal communication, and small group communication.

• Ability to independently troubleshoot and identify solutions.

• Strong organizational skills and the ability to plan and schedule activities.

• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office apps preferred (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

• Experience with Adobe products strongly preferred (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat, etc.)

• Ability to multitask, work under pressure and meet deadlines.

• Continuous improvement of technical knowledge

• This position is in an office setting. Responsibilities occasionally require working evenings and weekends, sometimes with little advanced notice. Lifting of up to 50 lbs. may be required.

Audience Development Specialist

 

The Audience Development Specialist position supports the enrichment and growth of the subscriber database and controlled circulation for Sosland Publications. This position will plan and implement subscription acquisition and retention campaigns to produce the optimal mix of circulation to meet audit and publisher goals. Works with our database vendor to provide issue close, mailing label output and other instructions. Assists departmental efforts with distribution, audits, customer service and reporting. Contributes to building audience information and demographic profiles to support targeted marketing and audience engagement opportunities.

 

Job Duties

Subscriber Acquisition and Retention

• Plan and implement new subscriber acquisition and retention campaigns via telemarketing, email and print

• Assemble and maintain promotional schedules, project timelines and response reporting

• Set up and provide instructions for the various campaigns

• Acquire and prepare promotional list including directory, prospect and association list

Audience Database, File Maintenance and Reporting

• Liaison to subscription database and fulfillment vendor

• Monitor issue close schedule compliance

• Verify accuracy and upload files to database

• Provide ad hoc circulation statistics and demographic information as requested

Audit Compliance

• Maintain data compliance

• Perform duplication checks

• Keep audit materials organized

• Review and audit statements for accuracy

Customer Service

• Customer phone and email inquiries

• Utilize Omeda for customer record lookup and resolution

• Completes press orders

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, statistics or equivalent is preferred

• 4-6 years of professional office experience preferred

• Strategically focused and results-driven self-starter

• Strong subscriber/member database management experience

• Competency in MS Office products including strong Excel spreadsheet skills

• Dynamic ability to compile, analyze and present data in a meaningful format

• Excellent organizational and time-management skills

• Creative problem-solving skills

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail

• Ability to manage multiple tasks, handle a diverse workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Team collaborator with a compelling style

• B2B publishing experience preferred

• Circulation or Audience Development experience preferred
