The Audience Development Specialist position supports the enrichment and growth of the subscriber database and controlled circulation for Sosland Publications. This position will plan and implement subscription acquisition and retention campaigns to produce the optimal demographic mix to meet audit and publisher goals. Works with our database vendor to provide issue close, mailing label output and other instructions. Assists departmental efforts with distribution, audits, customer service and reporting. Contributes to building audience information and demographic profiles to support targeted marketing and audience engagement opportunities.

Job Duties

Subscriber Acquisition and Retention

  • • Plan and implement new subscriber acquisition and retention campaigns via telemarketing, email and print
  • • Assemble and maintain promotional schedules, project timelines and response reporting
  • • Set up and provide instructions for the various campaigns
  • • Acquire and prepare promotional list including business directory, association, and other prospect list
  • • Apply proper coding to identify demographics, queries selections in database, generate prospect lists, and track responses
  • • Manage paid group subscriptions
  •  

Audience Database, File Maintenance and Reporting

  • • Liaison to subscriber database, telemarketing and list vendors
  • • Monitor issue close schedule compliance
  • • Prepare and communicate issue close instructions and print orders to involved partners
  • • Verify accuracy and upload files to database
  • • Assist with monthly reports
  • • Provide ad hoc circulation statistics and demographic information as requested
  • • Maintain magazine schedules for printing, mailing and distribution
  • • Assist with distributing office copies and provides oversight of inventory, archives, bound issues and off-site backstock
  • • Deploys targeted email campaigns including list selection, email set-up, testing and scheduling. Prepares monthly email activity reports
  • • Assist with scheduling annual binding of bound volumes and distributes to requested locations

Audit Statements and Compliance

  • • Assist in preparation of bi-annual statements and annual audit process
  • • Maintain data compliance
  • • Keep audit materials organized
  • • Review audit statements for accuracy
  •  

Customer Service

  • • Assist with customer phone and email inquiries including collecting payment for subscriptions and products
  • • Utilize customer database for customer record lookup and resolution
  • • Troubleshoots and resolves customer record or other database issues
  • • Coordinates shipping requests to fulfill customer orders as needed

Qualifications

  • • Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent work experience
  • • 2-4 years of professional office experience preferred
  • • Strategically focused and results-driven self-starter
  • • High level of accuracy and attention to detail
  • • Strong subscriber/member database management experience
  • • Competency in MS Office products including strong Excel spreadsheet skills
  • • Ability to manage multiple tasks, handle a diverse workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • • B2B publishing experience preferred.
  • • Circulation or Audience Development experience preferred
  • • Omeda, or other audience database platform, experience preferred
  • • May need to occasionally lift boxes up to 30lbs

Milling & Baking News magazine is seeking a creative and dynamic digital associate editor. This position will drive the success of the magazine’s online and social media presence. Responsibilities include creating informative online content, sourcing graphics for the website, constructing compelling headlines and producing newsletters. This role will also utilize social media platforms to create brand awareness and online engagement with the publication’s B2B audience.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • • Establish, develop and maintain sources to provide relevant and interesting insights
  • • Create impactful editorial content for the website, social media and newsletters
  • • Identify and report daily news stories, press releases, innovations and trends
  • • Source or create graphics, video and audio content for the website or e-newsletters
  • • Provide copy editing review for monthly print publication and e-newsletters
  • • Monitor digital benchmarks and offer strategic ideas to improve online activity
  • • Assist with content development of print publication
  • • Attend trade shows and conferences to network with industry experts and build subject matter knowledge

Education and Experience

  • • Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English or Communications
  • • 1 to 3 years multimedia experience
  • • B2B publishing experience preferred
